Bejeweled Twist: A Twist for an Old Favorite
By Joe Cheray
Bejeweled Twist is the latest addition to the Bejeweled line of games produced by Pop Cap Games. I came about it by checking out Yahoo games and decided to take it for a test drive to see if I would like it as much as my old favorite Bejeweled 2 Deluxe and well I can tell you I was hooked and then bummed when my trial expired and I had to wait to buy it either online or go to the local software department and see if it was on the shelf. Luckily I was able to find it in the software section at Best Buy for a steal. I think I paid less than $10.00 for it.
If you played the previous version you know that it took you to various worlds as you completed each level.
In this version it is almost the same except that you also get a twisted world effect similar to what a curly fry looks like. In the former version you fill up a jewel crest as you complete each level, with this one you fill up a tube and once the tube is filled you get a certain amount of stars for completing the level also.
The twist in the game comes from the sphere that you twist to manipulate each jewel to make the needed match for points and bonuses. You just click on the sphere until you get your desired jewel in the line you want it. There are jewels hidden in rocks that you have to break free with an adjoining string of jewels. Also if you make an wesome move and you want to see it again there is an instant replay option available.
There are two levels of play at first which are classic and zen. Zen is the endless level in which you don’t have to worry about being on a timer to beat the game. As you complete more levels within the classic and zen levels there is a possibility to unlock two additional levels. You also get classifications for each level comiserate with points and bonus’. Presently I am a junior rotator. As I have not played this game as much as I am playing World of Warcraft I haven’t leveled up as quickly in it as I have World of Warcraft.
All in all this is an interesting twist on an old favorite and as for me I think it is worth the money I spent for it so that I can have a few moments here and there of mindless, relaxing fun.

Oh gawd this game is so damagingly addictive!
Easy game!
thanks!
This game is the reason I can not get any work done at my job. I think I’m going to have to take it off my computer. But it’s just so damn addicting. I love it!!!!!!!!!!
I love Bejeweled, but it sucks that you have to pay for it. It’s good but not that great. My mom loves the game though. I must admit it IS pretty addicting!
Looks like another game to get addicted to… I used to love Bejeweled back in the day. I wish that it was free though!!
Played the demo, ineteresting game, suitable for kids. No gambling or wars!
I recommend this game
I was a big fan of the original Bejeweled game so I may have to try this out and see if it is as addicting as before.
Man, I didn’t even know about Bejeweled. I love these catchy logical games. I was kinda addicted to Zuma for a while, but this one seems even better.
Other than that, it will definitely be easy to run it with wine on my low-end Linux PC.
Thanks for this review. I just have to try this game :]
I spent so many hours on the original Bejeweled that I’m a little scared at how much of my life may go into this one now.
My husband and I both love the original Bejeweled, so I’m sure this would be a great hit with us as well as the kids. Thanks for the informative and helpful review! I am always looking for real opinions on games suitable for families. Keep up the good work!
Addiction is the closest word I can come to for this game….I can do it for hours! Lucky you!
