After missing Braids last year’s Xbox release , you may come to conclude that this years PC version is another generic console platformer, but you cannot be more wrong! Braid is easily the best original game of 2008 and also the most talked about. The PC version of the Game sticks faithfully to the original Xbox version and can be played both by the keyboard and a gamepad controller. On the surface Braid seems like an art house designed on the famous platform of Super Mario Brothers. There is a princess to be rescued, castles to be conquered and all kinds of opponents to be jumped about and knocked out. Unlike Mario Brothers; Braid is less about reflexes, since it is not a fast paced games and is more about using your cerebral power of solving devious puzzles.
The games pleasant background music and water colour like art can quell you but your brain will keep racing trying to figure out solutions. The game is very challenging and for some gamers may be overtly challenging. But if you are a sucker for difficult puzzles and if working out such puzzles gives you an adrenalin rush, then this game is surely meant for you.
The PC version does not come with any extra visuals and in any case they are not needed. The art design of Braid is timeless and it’s difficult to imagine that the design can be felt dated even years from now. Since this is a 2D game it will run comfortable on most PC’s . This version also has a melodious somber background music which makes a perfect theme accompaniment for the game.
In today’s time when games are a copy of each other or are designed to be easily beaten, Braid sticks to its philosophy and gives the player a enjoyable and memorable experience, and is worth checking out. The game provides an energizing breath of air and also is evidence that independent game developers can design games that raise the standards for others.

I have heard that PC version of Braid has hidden level editor, is that true? Can you also manipulate time in Braid?
I like platform pc games where there are a lot of abilities, and levels where there are a lot of scripted events.

According to wikipedia Braid game pays homage to other video games; one level features a Donkey Kong-inspired puzzle, while the ending of one world tells the player that “the princess is in another castle”, similar to the end of each level of Super Mario Bros.

i think the graphics look top notch. im glad to see some innovation using an old system. I hate recycling engines without adding a lot of new mechanics. Pushing the boundaries.

Jon Blows has confirmed in his forum that Braid includes a full editor in the PC version. To access it just have to press F11 and get to work.
Jon Blows: Yes, after releasing a new version in a few days to correct the problems that some people have, and when more people have played / finished the game, I will publish some documents to the editor. The way it works is done with the level editor (up to a full game) will be executed later as a universe, is also a tool that will leave you free to make Photoshop files and import the game if you want put new graphics on their levels.
