Champions Online: Taking Online Multi-Player Games to the Next Level

When it comes to passion for their superheroes, Cryptic Studios is placed right at the top. Cryptic has achieved a decent level of success with their renowned MMO ‘City of Heroes’ while ‘City of Villains’ as its expansion has taken the game to the next level. Despite a sound platform to invest all their energies on the development of their upcoming project, Cryptic Studios surprised many by selling their franchise to NCSoft. NCSoft did not hesitate one bit in taking charge of the game with the aid of its game developers and many members from Cryptic’s team also joined in, on the other hand Cryptic Studios went for further exploration of opportunities. Cryptic tried their luck with Microsoft Games by working on Marvel Universe Online, but soon after they had to switch over as the project had to be ended. Cryptic based their next project, a role playing game on The Champions system of HERO Games.

Champions Online is a MMO game which offers superhero game play and is based in Millennium City which was built over the remains of the city of Detroit, destroyed (thanks to Dr. Destroyer) 17 years ago. Apart from experiencing the action inside the city, the game also allows you four additional areas outside Millennium City where you will be constantly engaged in fighting against the local enemies and their never-ending supply of henchmen. Champions Online pretty much delivers when it comes to imparting superhero game play just like in Cryptic Studio’s previous classic games City of heroes and Villains. But after playing Champions Online PC game you will find out that there is something extra in it as compared to the previous games. While Cryptic has retained some good features of City of Heroes, some innovative features like loot are also included so that players get the bite of something new. Overall, the game is based on a conventional superhero theme with a loaded structure of full-fledge quests. After playing Champions Online you will experience game play reminiscent to games like World of War craft and Lord of the Rings Online, the only difference being that in CO you play as a superhero.

It can be said without any hesitation that Champions Online is one of the most enjoyable MMORP games for PC in the last decade. The factor that sets it apart from the rest is the fact that developers have made sure that there is no compromise on the fun factor while several irritating features in MMO games are not part of CO. Champions Online PC game provides players with an innovative ultra-fast combat system, which is a revolution in the world of MMO games and gives its players more fun than they have ever gone through. Although, combats in CO are not entirely different from that in other MMOs, but you get to catch some extra thrill and intensity on random fights due to the swift cool-down on abilities.

No game is complete unless the developers have invested some efforts in building up realistic graphics. Gone are the days when we were satisfied by game play alone, as nowadays the games must also present the best graphics to impart a more realistic effect. As compared to City of Heroes, Champions Online for PC is much superior when it comes to graphics and visual display.

If you’re still doubtful as to whether the graphics in the game will be compatible with what has been seen in the comic books, then you should waive off your fears. The Cel-Shaded visuals in CO help establish the same feeling which readers get while reading its comics. After all, its all about making things look as real as possible! If you’ve got the slightest of curiosity about Champions Online PC game, then don’t waste time and don’t rely on others’ opinion only. Try it yourself!

I think Champions Online is, after all, the logical evolution of City of Heroes pc game over the years, a version of this vitamin heroic MMORPG that will appeal to all fans of the first game without promising a devastating revolution.
