The Civilization francize brings back old memories... More than a decade ago I was playing the first Civilization and honestly, had the time of my life. It was such a great game at that time.

Since then, any game designed by Sid Meier is a "must play" for me; the guy's a genius. Can't wait to play this one in the fall!

I had been a fan of Civ in the past. The game has never been award winning, IMO, but a decent game none the less. Civ IV though has got some really, really bad AI in it. The game play, city management has potential. But the AI logic totally wrecked it for me.

I was willing to give this game a chance as I tried to learn the intricacies of it. Unfortunately, the game plays like one is rolling the dice rather than relying on strategic skill. I was willing to overlook the fact that the class of units really doesn’t mean much. Particularly when a 17th century musketeer unit handily took out one my 20th century tank unit, and that a rematch with a decorated cavalry unit of mine could neither best them. (They really wanted to destroy my best city... and they eventually did it)

After about twenty restarts, when I felt confident that I’d learned enough of the game’s nuances, I made a concerted effort to use as much of the management options that I’d come to learn and give this game a good go. And I was doing quite well. So well, in fact, that I spent innumerable turns fending off barbarian attacks. Finally my fledgling cities could not produce enough warriors. Many of my warriors were highly decorated from so much fighting. But the barbarians finally won out and destroyed two of my cities. On one round, all five of my cities were under attack by barbarians. It was pretty ridiculous and laughable. I can’t remember a round where there weren’t barbarians either attacking or interrupting my workers, or destroying my infrastructure.

It seems that the more successful one is in this game, the more ridiculous aggressive the AI gets. Oddly, I was only playing at the third level of difficulty... there are actually ten levels. I’d hate to see how vindictive the game logic is at level ten.

The diplomacy gets very annoying too, so much so that it becomes irritating and pointless. There are a lot of good foundational features in this game, but this game will give you so many “WTF” moments and pointless diplomatic dialogue that you’ll stop enjoying it completely. The game has very good tech tree logic, good city management features, and a straight forward and easy to use interface. And the graphics are decent for a 2006 release. But all of this is seriously spoiled by the rock-paper-scissors and roll-the-dice logic of the AI.

I never thought the AI was very strong feature in past iterations of Civ. This is why I’ve never really thought of it as really worthy of awards. But the AI in Civ IV is a little too unsophisticated. Here the AI is a dichotomy of what the rest of the game offers. But I do think that this speaks to the trend in newer games. Weak AI’s are developed in favor of online and multi-player gaming. I think building a strong off-line, single player gaming experience has become a forgotten art.

I've never been a great fan of PC games, online games winning over everytime. This does sound appealing though, the graphics don't look too elaborate to the point of being overdone, and the gameplay seems fairly easy as long as you're familiar with this type of games.
This has really tickled my fancy, reading previous comments of how the Civilization series have been good I can't help but wonder if I should try it or not.
This is a good review, I think I'll look into it a bit more - perhaps I'll end up trying Civilization IV.

if you were one of the players that enjoyed in the past with Colonization, it is essential that you have the Sid Meier Civilization IV: Colonization, because it offers enhanced graphics, sound musicalización and has saved the best of the original and has everything to become all classic.
Civilization IV PC version is good.

I know this.I know this famous game about battle.i Don't like this so much, I just like StarCraft and 1 more but I forgot the name.

I have tried this game 1 time and it really didn't impress me much. And this is the very expensive game. The only thing I can do about this game is leaving away.

The only reason why this game is so popular is just because of the name. I did not find that this was an enjoyable experience. If I were you, I wouldn't waste the money on it.

Sid Meier brings only the name, acting more as the oracle that team members have consulted on the development path to be followed by this "new" game. The unmistakable style of the whole saga soaks up and down the fourth delivery, which is good on one hand and on the other hand no one uncovers innovativeness.

Civilization IV was just a waste of money in my opinion. The game costed me $50, yet it got boring about 5 minutes into the game. And from what I could see, there was no clear explanation to how it was supposed to be played, just how to control the game. If you are not a fan of thinking, I would not buy this game.

Civilization IV is one of those games that cost much. The classic "just take a turn and move on" has much more meaning that appears in the works of Sid Meier.

The Civilization series of games are one of my favorites! On the PS3 I play Civilization Revolution as Gandhi and turn him into a warmonger after exploiting the resources near by for a while! I can’t wait to get my hands on this one!

I found this game I have super with me one morning and I start at 10:30 and I tell myself I'm going to make a game and I was so caught up in my party that I almost missed classes. When you start playing this game well you can not stop it is to (agree to leave, but when our attic is finished, but after it ended when he wants to leave lotr when building is completed and do not go on forever. only small flaws: the 3D engine is not so impressive that despite this there are several zoom. I recommend this game at all.

Huge, brilliant, rich and very full! Even though the graphics are poor on pc, the hours pass and are not alike. Each hero has a different personality and launching tirades pretty much felt that brighten up the game The online mode allows a life almost infinite.

I also have a history of playing this game, from the board game as a child, to the PC game. I found the game to be extremely fun, but not as competitive or as enjoyable as StarCraft BW.

I am glad they are continuing to make these games, altough i always doubt very many new players will pick up a game with the number 4 in the title. It seems like you are missing something.

I am a big fun of civilization series. Fourteen years have passed since the first Civilization appeared. Since then they have appeared five games. Three of the creative mind of Sid Meier and two Call to Power. Although it has been a long time I havent played it yet, maybe I should... What do you think?
