spirit with no cost, I have found a free game for you to enjoy if you are into classic racing games. GeneRally is a throwback to the 80’s style Indy racing genre. It was developed many years ago and the last version 1.05 was finalized on December 22nd of 2003, almost 5 years to date.
In GeneRally you can pick from one of 12 different cars to drive an
d customize the colors and attributes to your liking. You also get to choose from 30 different race tracks you would like to compete in. On top of that, you can download user generated cars and tracks from the forums which gives you an endless supply of designs and layouts.
Rev up the engine and start racing against players on the same computer 
or against computer generated pros to test your ability and create new records for lap times. You can enter races with up to 6 separate people or computer AI driven cars, or any mix and max of both. Make a selection to race from 1 lap to 100 laps and cross the checkered flag first to win and feel the glory.
A feature I really like is that all driver controls are configurable through the
options screen. You will have no problem using a keyboard, gamepad or joystick. The only pitfall is that you must play on the same computer. There is no Internet or Network play which will hinder most people playing in multi-player mode.
GeneRally is fun, exciting and competitive with many players and even racing against the computer. The game will run on all versions of Windows as long as DirectX 8 or higher is installed. The screen shots that you have given from the game look good. I especially find the multi-player mode that you have mentioned here very exciting.
I would say among all games 50% would be racing games? Do you have any numbers on this?
I wouldn’t say it is anywhere near that Ivs. If I had to guess I would put racing games somewhere around 5%.

I really liked the old indy style car racing. I hate how complex and huge the games these day have become.

Its amazing how simple games (no need to be uber graphic heavy) are the most fun to play.
An interesting aspect is user generated tracks - this game should be around for a while… so definitely a long tail game.

Hey I was just googling randomly for a nice pc game about racing that I can download for free and pass some time Now I found this. It is a beautiful, easy to play racing pc game for up to 6 players. This game is suitable for any age, I think from kids to papas will love to play this game and is absolutely worth the time for a free download. Just want to remind you that there is no installation!
Also you can download as many car modesl or traks from a Generally fan site.
Cons: enjoy racing 15-25 cars at a time, so it would be better if there were more enemies and no chance for online racing! Also I could not find a main menu in this great pc game! Tere is also a trak and car editor which is very good for your creativity. I liked the game, I recommend.

I know this game for quite some time but i stop playing because it becomes too easy after some time of playing.

It would be lovely to find one, even if it´s not free. I would say, like GTA graphics (from the top), but with all this options i mentioned, more complete then Genrally.
