Prototype PC Game

Superheroes and, by extension, superhero games are about the fantasy of power: that slightly Neitzchean desire to exert your will on your surroundings, to reshape reality according to your whims, to jump-kick a helicopter until it explodes. Prototype PC Game gives you a broad set of shape-shifting superpowers and lets you loose in a well rendered Manhattan (where else?) to work your will, provided that will can be expressed by throwing, punching, clawing, or exploding humans and vehicles.
As Alex Mercer, the carrier of a mutagenic super-virus, you are hunted by the military, who are interested in recovering your carcass for research purposes. Fortunately, the virus grants you all sorts of super powers, including the ability to reshape your limbs into weapons, so you’re able to beat back legions of soldiers. Then the zombies come in, and things get interesting.
As you accomplish objectives, destroy bases or zombie “hives”, and finish side “events” (like races or timed battles), the game awards you “Evolution Points” with which to unlock new powers. These are impressive in their number and diversity, and they open new styles of play to you, which makes the game all the more flexible. The appeal of the game lies in the variety of ways you can approach any situation – do you want to defeat this monster by pelting it with rockets? By knocking it off a skyscraper? By throwing pedestrians at it?
The graphics are decent, but not exceptional. Alex’s coat ripples nicely in the wind, and the view of Manhattan from the top of the Chrysler building is breathtaking. Character models can be a bit bland, but there are hundreds of them on the screen at a time. The controls can be squirrelly, sometimes sending Alex ricocheting off of skyscrapers when you just want him to walk calmly down the street, but it’s an acceptable exchange for the mobility offered.
Prototype PC Game offers a chaotic and flexible open world, inexhaustible game play, and an intriguing plot, jinxed by sometimes squirrelly controls and occasional difficulty spikes. But, really, the game grips you from the moment you first jump-kick a helicopter out of the sky.
That is a thing of joy.

Alex Mercer a man without mercy, without destination, without memory or memories…

The strength and market power are given in each punch, able to break (yes, literally) the face of the innocent citizens who swarm the streets. You can also hit and kicked by using the complete body of persons as skateboard … yes, it’s glorious!

Strongly agreed, broadly speaking, with this analysis. I bought this game the day it came out and the first thing that shocked me very much, was the low level graphics. It looked like a PS2 game. I have seen so blurry textures, especially those of the characters. I guess that’s the price for “fill” the streets hundreds of beings.

And as to the mechanics of game seems simple enough (and I’ve had enough ;-)) and sometimes very confusing. Especially in massive battles, which become completely chaotic.

    Greetings.

I have played Prototype PC Game at my cousins house. The graphics are like Grand Theft Auto quality but it is still good:) At the beginning Alex Mercer kills a man with the help of his razor! He has super powers
that can overcome a whole army and zombies.
Its a great game I hope I can get this game.

My brother plays this game and has tried to get me to join in. Although I’m not much of a gamer, I like the “evolution point” idea because it’s kinda’ parallel to real life. We all go through various missions in our life and earn personal evolution points as we learn and grow.

That probably sounds really corny nut it’s still true.

Sounds like fun. I actually don’t start playing these types of games as I am so sure that I’d get addicted.

The idea of “evolution points” seems unique and it is a great way to prod the player to reach for more and more powers. I bet this game is a good play to all games enthusiasts out there.

This looks like a fun game and the evolution of super powers reminds me of X-men and most other comic-book style action. It’s always fun to play something that has flexible action where things can happen in multiple ways rather than only one scripted way. I’m wondering if this game is designed for online multiplayer action?

This looks like it’s worth playing the demo (if they have one).

Great review, I think you showcased the best parts of the game. I look forward to reading your next post!

Hi Jane Prototype pc game offers a flexible but a chaotic world, addicting gameplay, and a nice user frinedly control panel, also sometimes it becomes really a difficult game, but it is one of the best pc games that I played in 2010.

Some things have changed, yes, but independently of changes in design and general appearance, the truth is that the spirit of the brand’s patent.
