Piston engines and the noise of machine guns are the features that make up the atmosphere of 1917’s Western Front. The landscape features a badly scarred No Man’s Land with the frequent blasts of flak going up in the air. The warriors of the World War I who are the mainstay of this era fight a unique kind of battle, one that reminds the spectator of the ancient time knights, the air war. This gives the game its venerable name: Rise of Flight.
With their invention, flying machines took the hearts of many young and bold people who dared to venture into becoming pilots. Each of these patriotic individuals launched into the sky ready to fight for their country’s honor.

The air ships were mostly made out of canvas and timber but the young souls spiraled and dived on in the heights of the skies. The sky was essentially a wilderness with the brave heart existing therein for only 17 missions; there was no escape once your plane had been hit. The best of these breed were the only ones to whom survival was guaranteed. The game puts you through these very conditions as you are tested through your ability to survive adversity and enjoy the flight as you delve into adventure.
The flight simulation featured in the game is near life and gives the experience an aesthetic quality that you only get to dream of. The Fokker D. VII and the Spad XIII have agility in their joints as well as certain deadliness that needs a nimble mind in their handling. These biplanes feature some of the pioneering technologies in modern day flight and expose you to the start of deadly acrobatic moves made by pioneer pilots, thus you learn to duck early enough from the line of fire.
