In recent years these games have become very common, with such highlights as the classic series Commandos or Silent Storm Spanish. Despite having so many good competition, Soldiers noted for the excellent graphics and changed the game, combining strategy and action more evenly than their competitors.
Basically we have a team of soldiers who have to find a mission in a given scenario. In this case, unlike in Commandos, all our team members have the same skills, but having a “look” different.
We can choose between four different groups: Russians, Germans, Americans and Britons, through nearly 30 long missions based on real events of World War II, in four separate campaigns, one for each side. These missions vary from the pure action to the infiltration typical, where we will use our discretion to move unseen and unheard.
Another of the surprises of Soldiers is the degree of interactivity of the environment, almost everything can be destroyed at the scene of the game, from buildings to trees. Besides the physics is quite successful, the feeling of driving vehicles of war is very similar to what should be in real life.
Another detail of realism is the limited amount of ammunition and fuel available, having to stop and refuel every once in a while so that we are not caught without material with which to tackle the enemy.
Although originality is not the remarkable facet of this game if you have a new playable very interesting detail: the Direct Control. This feature is basically the ability to control individual elements and move them like in an action game, besides the typical orders generic strategy game in real time, such as “go there” or “attack that.”
The graphics are quite striking, the units and the environment are made with great care and taste, with some nice textures and detail. Moreover, as we said before, almost everything can be destroyed, leaving a trail of destruction to our very successful step.
The music is fairly typical, as expected in this type of games, not being particularly noteworthy. The sounds however are quite good, credible voices are loud and the explosions, which achieves an excellent atmosphere in the battle.
The single includes a cooperative multiplayer for up to four players, which can move in the same missions and campaigns for a player to enjoy. It is quite funny and original, but also lack a deathmatch made in either 1 vs 1 or teams, something pretty standard today.
In short: Soldiers is a great strategy game that will delight fans of the genre, though not surprise anyone, since it does not include new features that make this game out as compared to its famous rivals.

I just had the opportunity to play a demo that comes with the Micromania the month of July. In this demo I’ve seen and liked to pass the mission. The option of direct control is very good, reminded me of those arcade games in which they carry a soldier shooting a scene with pinion vertical scroll but with graphics light years away, of course.
The game sounds interesting although I am not really very familiar with all of them but I remember a similar film. I have seen a lot of times being featured in HBO (Home Box Office) channel before and I partially watched the film…
If I ever have to play this game, the thing that will fascinate me more is the learning part: you mentioned that each mission is based on real WWII events, now that’s what I call great!
This game is intersting, I havent played the full version but the free demo gives a lot. I am really not an histoy person but with this game you learn about histoy, interesting…
the competitors of these kind of war pc games always come up with something new, with some innovation, but this game publishers does not make anything to improve this one. I like to play Soldiers: Heroes of World War II pc game but it needs some attention, this is my opinion, thanks.
its a different kind of a strategy game I recommend you to download the free demo and play it before purchasing.
Adam.
