In a world of real time strategy games that originally were created for console games, but made it to the big screen, on the PC, comes Tom Clancy’s End Wars. This game pushes the limits of technology with its incredible voice controls.
Sadly to say that this is where the excitement stops, with a single player story line more boring than a Sunday morning, watching tele-tubbies, and an almost identical game play among all 3 factions, luckily the online multiplayer side saves the day, and makes this a somewhat enjoyable game.
Having the ability to order your troops into battle with voice commands is the high point in End War. You simply speak some set commands such as unit one, attack hostile six etc. and your troops are off to do your bidding.
Don’t expect to get elaborate in your voice commands and be competitive online in multiplayer action. Some of the more advanced commands must be pulled off with a series of keyboard commands, making for a bit of micro management.
The back story is that of a near future world that is on the brink of World War because of missile defense systems, oil shortages and a re-kindled hatred between Russia and America, (sound familiar?)
The Russians start the party with a sabotage mission against a U.S. satellite and then lay the blame on Europe. Europe finds out and attacks Russia, and then Russia attacks America, resulting in a menage a trois of destruction.
As in many real time strategy games, Tom Clancy’s End War doesn’t bother you with the task of having to build bases, therefore freeing up more time to abuse the enemy troops, and your own troops for that matter. All war is managed from one screen, which limits you to only a couple of options per turn. You are able to spend credits to upgrade your veteran troops, but must actually hover the mouse over the units you want to get tactical status of.
Not as visually stunning as others I have seen, or strategically deep for that matter Tom Clancy’s End War makes a give and take performance. If you’re looking for that game to keep you entertained for hours up on end, then you might want to keep looking, but a game that is about 2/3 of the way to fun, then look no further.

I need to cover my PC before my 14 yr old son sees this new game. I won’t see him for a week! Sounds like a fun game!
Thanks for the review! I was actually thinking of getting it because the trailer looked simply awesome! But your points do seem valid; the graphics are smooth but not stunning, and its sad to hear about the gameplay being almost identical for all three factions! Are there better options coming out later this year that I should maybe save up for, PC-wise?
The idea is good, the design is great but the thought of infantry fighting tanks in the middle of an open field is just ridiculous…
Wow, that sounds like a bit of fun. I wish they would change the story up a bit for these types of games. It’s always a WWIII and it’s always with the Russians. Still sounds like a good game, though.
I Need to look into the performance and graphics also before purchasing
Hello!
I apologize for the delay in your review. Here it goes!
1) Perhaps the first thing I noticed when I came to your page was the demo downloads you had in the sidebar. I’d like to commend you for the idea. I don’t think I have ever seen anyone else offer up something like that on a blog. However, this is the internet, and there is all sorts of malicious software floating around. What reason do I have to trust it? It may help to add something like “spyware free guaranteed” undernear it. I think a screenshot would be really helpful too for someone interested.
2) Your site lacks any method of subscription. If I like reading your blog, how I am going to get daily updates unless I visit every day? I recommend Feedburner as a service for your blog. It has email delivery and RSS/Atom feed delivery.
3) This comment box. It’s awfully dark, and a little hard to tell what I am typing. Is it possible to change the color?
4) Your blog only displays one post per page. This has some benefits, but some negatives also. It makes your page load faster, but it also means that whoever stumbles across this page will only get that one article as an example of your site. If you had 3 or 4 posts a page, a person could scroll down until they find something which catches their eye, or someone who likes what they read could keep reading without having to load a new page.
5) Someone here has mentioned performance and graphics. Why not include the specs for each game with its review? That way, people have more information and can know if their computer can handle the game or not before buying it.
I hope this helps!

Well…, just when I thought about buying it,
I am happy to see this review.
I had hoped in a real fun game that would take me to hours of fun, as it is expensive in my country.
Luckily it’s around midnight here, so I can actually prevent my little brother wanting to buy it!
Thanks for this very helpful review!
Oh, and to be bit off topic, Great site design, except the Comment boxes are a bit annoying to read
After playing this game…one would agree that its his End war…now or never…..best Army Shooting games
I like the innovative voice commands. Besides it’s simplicity, it’s fun, more interactive, and helps with the voice-recognition technology. If more and more games would adopt speech commands, soon we will have a robust speech recognition library for other uses as well, such as robotics…

Two nights later, as the story found its way into the world, a few fans threw rubber rats on the ice in celebration of a goal. The rubber rat count went from 16 for the third home game to over 2,000 during the playoffs.
I hope there will be the next version of this game.
